Hong Kong is not only an administrative site of China but a top tourist destination. Millions of tourists plan their trip to this administrative region where they explore nature in the sea, mountains, and islands. Hong Kong offers almost 231 islands where every moment you will find a crowd of tourists. Among these islands, Hong Kong Island (Xianggangdao) is one of the most populated islands located in the southern part of Hong Kong. Standing 555 meters above sea level, the Island offers vantage points, restaurants, and family-friendly destinations.

According to the 2008 population mark the estimated population of the island is 1,289,600. The Island is not only the best tourist destination but plays an important role in the commercial development of Hong Kong. Its northern coast forms the southern shore of Victoria Harbor which plays an important role in the development of Hong Kong due to the deep water favored by large trade ships.

The Island is also a collection of many more famous sights including the Peak, Ocean Park, and some historic buildings and large shopping centers with the latest technology. A mountain range also exists along the island famous for hiking trails. Rising like a glittering urban oasis of the Pearl River Delta of China, Hong Kong Island is defined by modern technology, skyscrapers, and neon lights.

Hong Kong Island Attractions

Hong Kong Island consists of many small mountains whose height is between 300-400m. the highest peak on this island is Peak having 554m height the best place from where you can take an overview of Victoria Harbor. At night time charming views wait for tourists. Peak Tram is a unique and traditional transport source in Hong Kong. This island has 100 years old history.

Some of the major tourist attractions including Repulse Bay, and Ocean Park, in the list of most visited theme parks in the world, are located on the south end of Hong Kong Island.

The city’s commercial and political center is located in the northern part of the Island. Central and Causeway Bay along with many skyscrapers are also located here. Sheung Wan is another worth visiting place on the northwest of Hong Kong Island.  Those who are interested in history, stroll in the streets where they can learn about the history of the island and the changes that occurred with time.

If you have planned your trip to Hong Kong Island, don’t forget shopping. You will find almost all the brands in Center and Causeway Bay where you can buy luxury items or fast fashion brands. City Plaza is another shopping center in the island’s center where you can buy everything you need. In short, you will find a long list of shopping centers which surely meet your needs.
