Clock Tower Hong Kong- Avenue of Stars Attraction


In the list of top-level tourist attractions in Hong Kong Clock Tower is also one of them. It is located on the southern shore of Tsim Sha Tsui, next to the Victoria Harbor. Usually, it is referred to as Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower. Millions of tourists visit this attraction all over the world.

The old clock tower, which stands at a height of 44 meters, in 1915 as a part of the Kowloon-Canton Railway terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui. Construction of this tower occurred with red bricks and granite and was completed in 1915 as a part of a complex that was opened publicly in 1916. A 7-meter lightning rod is also mounted on it. Inside this tower, there is a facility of staircase to reach the top of the tower. The Interior of the building was available to the public but recently closed for maintenance.

Until the mid of 1970, Clock Tower served as a part of the Kowloon Canton Railway terminal, but in 1975 the government of Hong Kong decided to relocate and move the Kowloon train station to its present location. Due to this decision, several changes occurred in the Tsim Sha Tsui area in which several buildings diminished. Clock Tower was the only landmark that remains along with old times. Since 1990, this tower is famous as the official monument of Hong Kong.

Nowadays, Clock Tower and the area around it is a famous meeting and sightseeing point. It is accessible by all means of transportation to the tourists. The nearest tourist attractions include the Harbor Shopping Mall, Star Ferry Terminus, the Peninsula Hotel, and the Avenue of Stars.
