Locating on a hill it’s not only a temple but also possesses 5 temples, 4 pavilions, and a pagoda on the top of mountains. Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery Hong Kong

Founded in the 1950s, this monastery was completed in almost 6 years but you will find here monks. The whole complex covers almost 8 hectares of which two floors are made. The upper floor consists of four halls in which different statues are found. The lower floor possesses another hall, a pagoda consisting of nine stories in height, a tower, and two pavilions. Due to its location on a hillside, you had to walk by a stairwell consisting of almost 431 stairs steps. Monastery contains almost 13000 Buddha statues which were added over the decades. The stair steps are surrounded by statues of Arhats which are golden painted on both sides as you step forward.

Not only these statues are there, but as you climb up the stairs you will see wild monkeys due to the surrounding hills and mountains. Once you reach the top, you will enjoy the peaceful environment and panoramic view of Sha Tin and New Territories. If you have the stamina to climb nine floors of the pagoda, you have the chance to see 12800 other small golden Buddha figures and a nice view of mountains. Although entry is free from 9 am to 5 pm, you can donate if you like.

How to Get to Ten Thousand Buddhas

One of the best and most convenient ways to reach Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery is by Metro due to the short walk distance from Sha Tin Metro Station. Through this route, you can find easily the actual entrance of the monastery. As you leave the station start your journey towards Pai Tau Village then turn left at Pai Tau Street. Take the first right at Sheung Wo Che Road in between the mall and the government office building. At the end, a metal gate area welcomes you leading towards Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery. So, without missing any chance plan your trip to this worth-visiting tourist as well as worship destination.
